Paralegal Manager

Business & Finance

You manage the paralegal team — hiring, training, workload distribution, and the delicate art of telling a partner that no, their 'urgent' project is not more urgent than the three other 'urgent' projects from three other partners. You're the buffer between attorney demands and paralegal sanity, and you've gotten very good at saying 'I'll look into that' while buying yourself 24 hours.

What you'll actually do

  • 01Assign and balance workloads across the paralegal team without causing a mutiny
  • 02Hire and onboard new paralegals who think law firms are like what they saw on TV
  • 03Mediate between attorneys who all think their project is the most important
  • 04Develop training programs and quality standards for the department
  • 05Manage the paralegal budget, including overtime requests that would make HR faint
  • 06Conduct performance reviews for people who know where all the bodies are buried (figuratively, mostly)
